Limar Air Pro Helmet

In April 2019 I was chosen to be a Limar Ambassador.
After selecting my helmet (Air Pro) I am now well underway to testing it and seeing how it compares to the Giro Synthe and MET Forte helmets that I had been wearing since 2017.
Reading up on the specifications Limar put forward, they claim you can claim 1 second for every 10km. *The value of just 1 second.
Wind tunnel testing at Magny Cours showed an impressive 20% increase in efficiency when compared to the Limar Ultralight+

So far, the Limar Air range of helmets has been in the spotlight this year with wins for Astana ProTeam at Itzulia Basque Country and third place at the hotly contested Amstel Gold Race. Another 21 stage wins this season has lead to Astana being the team to watch this year.

So, first impressions. The helmet weighs in at 289g for a large. Some 19g heavier than is stated on the website and 9g heavier than stated on the box. (Is it weighed without padding or without straps? Who knows...
My second thought was to the padding. It is quite thick, but machine washable which is a bonus and it has antibacterial properties too. However, it is only connected with a few velcro dots which

The lid is constructed with carbon-coretech technology which Limar state
'We have exploited the unique properties of carbon, coupling them with eps, to realise a maximum resistance core with minimum thickness.
Two structural wings merge with the side ribs of the shell, creating a highly performing cage in terms of safety, aerodynamics and ventilation.'

The longitudinal fins are pyramid shape which cuts through the air and creates less resistance.

So, how does it perform?
Around my area there are plenty of 4-5 mile flattish routes that can be used for a decent 20 minute FTP effort. Recently I have been hitting this route in about 10 minutes per lap. Wednesday night I rode each lap 23 seconds quicker. Yes, I am sure it has something to do with my fitness, but even 23 seconds per lap is something of an achievement for most riders.
Another circuit showed a 50 second improvement over 6 miles. Again, I admit, I have been training hard, but the helmet is light, aero and has shown gains in all aspects of my rides.
The most notable difference from my Giro Synthe and MET Forte helmets is that the Limar Air Pro is quiet. There is barely a noise from it. When riding in a group, I used to constantly look round to see invisible cars where the noise from the helmets made sound similar to a humming engine. With Air Pro, I don't hear anything. This has allowed me to concentrate more on riding and not so much on whether there is or isn't a car behind me.

Other benefits include Lifetime Crash Replacement.
